As part of her own professional development, Karen is attending the training, as an auditor, for the next 3 years to learn about the basics of this riding philosophy and commented by saying “if the first few days in January were anything to go by, we are all in for an absolute treat. We observed each of the horses, all different in breed, size and athletic ability, grow in stature, balance and confidence through this consistent and horse centred approach to training”.

Philippe Karl, classical rider, trainer and author of ’The Twisted Truths of Modern Dressage’, is one of the most highly respected guardians of lightness in the modern equestrian world. For 13 years an elite Ecuyer of the prestigious French classical school Le Cadre Noir de Saumur, he has dedicated his life to working with horses.

In 2004, M. Karl founded ’L’ecole de Legerete’ (The School of Lightness) in order to pass on his philosophy to committed and qualified riding teachers and, for the first time ever, The School of Légèreté is here in the UK, thanks to the most generous hospitality of Jo and Derek Clark at The Holistic Equitation Centre in Northamptonshire

World renowned Australian Equine Behavioural Scientist, FEI rider and author, Dr Andrew McLean presented “Training horses effectively using Learning Theory” at Reaseheath College Equine Unit.

It was a fabulous experience for everyone who attended, but especially for ‘yours truly’ as I was hugely privileged to ride for Andrew as one of the demo riders.
